Founder, Way Out Custom Branding

About Jackson

I was born and raised in Wilmington, NC, and I've been designing brands since I was fifteen. Most of my work now comes from referrals from people I've actually worked with: clients who trusted me with their business, and business owners who trust me to understand what matters in this town.

How Way Out started

A studio built the way I wished mine had been.

A logo for a friend, at fifteen

Way Out started at fifteen, making a logo for a friend. What I remember isn't the drawing, it's that we couldn't agree on what looked good. That's the first time I learned a brand is hard to build, and the hard part is never the craft. Ten years later, the hardest part of running my own studio is still the same one: a client who doesn't trust the eye they hired.

A path that accumulated, not arrived

I studied graphic design at York Technical College in Rock Hill, SC, then spent a year and a half designing for Elevation Church, invites, screens, whatever needed making, even though it wasn't my job. Way Out became a real business in June 2025. Every client since, 20+ and counting, has come from a referral. I still take every project myself, so there's no account manager between you and the person doing the work.

What I've learned as a designer

The most overused advice in this industry is to build a brand around what the owner likes. I've watched plenty of business owners defend a color or a logo because it's personally meaningful to them, not because it does anything for the people they're trying to reach. What actually decides whether a stranger trusts your business is what they see before they ever talk to you. A few clients trickling in can feel like proof things are fine, when it's really proof of how many more you're losing before the phone ever rings.

The designer you call.

We work with organizations whose business depends on software working properly: SMEs with complex operations, scale-ups, and growing brands. From Wilmington, NC, we build for the long term.
